The joke here is that Deal keeps revising his financial statements to show he’s not going broke (his daughter declared bankruptcy and left him responsible for her debts—he will have to sell his house and even then that won’t fix it all). Plus, “public servant”? He was a congressman. He resigned when the ethics folks were about to get him for possible ethical violations. True story.
